HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE ASBESTOS?

Asbestos was commonly used in building materials between the 1930’s to the late 1970’s for its sound absorption, durability and fire retardant properties. WHERE CAN ASBESTOS BE FOUND?

When it comes to building materials - Asbestos was best used as insulation. It can be found in walls, ceilings and attics or wrapped around heating systems such as duct work and plumbing pipes. It was also often mixed with other materials, making it commonly found in many household items such as drywall and plaster compounds, vinyl floor tiles, ceiling tiles and exterior siding, shingles and caulking.

Materials containing asbestos fibers are highly hazardous when the conditions begin to degrade and become disturbed. WHAT ARE THE HEALTH SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH ASBESTOS?

While some asbestos fibres are more dangerous than others, all pose serious health risks when an individual is exposed to. Asbestos fibres can be released through various ways, one being; after repairs, maintenance and renovations, causing a disturbance in asbestos-containing structural materials.
